Take a gander at R Kelly. He can sing in practically all classifications be it RB, soul or hip-jump said Chidarikire. A few of us have been boxed without a doubt yet then there are same of us who pick to leave the container and afterward return said Stunner Has urban sections music presently reached Heaven’s entryways? Has it at last presently accomplished the so truly necessary acknowledgment equivalent to the class like Sungura, Contemporary and Ethnic in Zimbabwe? The toll of the stress can affect us emotionally and physically. Because of this, it’s a good idea to diminish or eliminate relationships that are filled with conflict  whenever possible. But what do you do if the person in question is a family member, co-worker, or someone you otherwise can’t easily eliminate from your life? The following are tips for dealing with difficult people who are in your life, for better or for worse. Keep Conversations Neutral Avoid discussing divisive and personal issues, like religion and politics, or other issues that tend to cause conflict. If the other person tries to engage you in a discussion that will probably become an argument, change the subject or leave the room. If youre unsure of whether your conversation style is too assertive or not assertive enough, this quiz can help. Accept the Reality of Who They Are In dealing with difficult people, don’t try to change the other person; you will only get into a power struggle, cause defensiveness, invite criticism, or otherwise make things worse. It also makes you a more difficult person to deal with. Know Whats Under Your Control Change your response to the other person; this is all you have the power to change. For example, don’t feel you need to accept abusive behavior. Use assertive communication to draw boundaries when the other person chooses to treat you in an unacceptable way. Create Healthier Patterns Remember that most relationship difficulties are due to a dynamic between two people rather than one person being unilaterally bad. Chances are good that youre repeating the same patterns of interaction over and over; changing your response could get you out of this rut, and responding in a healthy way can improve your chances of a healthier pattern forming. Here’s a list of things to avoid in dealing with conflict. Do you do any of them? Also, here are some healthy communication skills to remember. See the Best In People Try to look for the positive aspects of others, especially when dealing with family, and focus on them. (Developing your optimism and reframing skills can help here!) The other person will feel more appreciated, and you will likely enjoy your time together more. Remember Who Youre Dealing With Seeing the best in someone is important; however, don’t pretend the other person’s negative traits don’t exist. Don’t tell your secrets to a gossip, rely on a flake, or look for affection from someone who isn’t able to give it. This is part of accepting them for who they are. Conflict and Stress in a Relationship Get Support Where You Can Find It Get your needs met from others who are able to meet your needs. Tell your secrets to a trustworthy friend whos a good listener, or process your feelings through journaling, for example. Rely on people who have proven themselves to be trustworthy and supportive, or find a good therapist if you need one. This will help you and the other person by taking pressure off the relationship and removing a source of conflict. Let Go Or Get Space If You Need It Know when it’s time to distance yourself and do so. If the other person can’t be around you without antagonizing you, minimizing contact may be key. If they’re continually abusive, its best to cut ties and let them know why. Explain what needs to happen if there ever is to be a relationship, and let it go. (If the offending party is a boss or co-worker, you may consider switching jobs.) Tips: Try not to place blame on yourself or the other person for the negative interactions. It may just be a case of your two personalities fitting poorly.Remember that you dont have to be close with everyone; just being polite goes a long way toward creating harmony.Work to maintain a sense of humor â€" difficulties will roll off your back much more easily. Shows like The Office,  Modern Family and books like David Sedaris Naked can help you see the humor in the dealing with difficult people, especially if theyre people you love.Be sure to cultivate other more positive relationships in your life to offset the negativity that these challenging relationships can bring. How Lord of the Flies Relates to the Story of Rebecca...

Lord of the Flies and the tormented Florida girl Bullying has been a factor of too many teenage deaths, especially Rebecca Sedwick. Rebecca Sedwick is your ordinary teenage girl, until one an a half years ago when it all began. Sedwick has been stalked for quite a while by two teenage girls on the Internet. This story of Sedwick ties into the story of The Lord of the Flies. These two stories show hate, harassment, and mistreatment against one person. In this situation, Sedwick was being tormented and stalked by two of her former classmates on Facebook, however this whole dispute all started over a boy that the former student of Sedwick dated and so did Sedwick. One of the girls was upset that Sedwick had once dated her current boyfriend and began bullying and harassing her more than a year ago when they both were students at Crystal Lake Middle School. In addition to harassing Sedwick with messages over the Internet, the girl physically attacked Sedwick at least once. The girl also recruited her former best friend to bully Sedwick herself. The suspect and Sedwick did have a falling out over the boy, and there was some â€Å" back and forth† at school between the former friends. The suspect had been friends with the victim, but they had a falling out. Sedwick had also been suspended at one point for fighting with a girl who used to be friends with Sedwick. Furthermore, as the bullies kept harassing Sedwick with messages by stating, â€Å"Why dont you go kill yourself†

The Story of the Hour Free Essays

CRAIG MAY ENG125: Introduction to Literature Jennifer Chunn 22 MAR 2013 This is the first literature course I have ever taking in my academic career, the use of literature terms are one’s that I have never used before in work and school. In this paper, the literary approach is what I’m going to use for Kate Chopin’s on The Story of an Hour. The best definition I can give for literary approach is a literary approach is a way of looking at literature i. We will write a custom essay sample on The Story of the Hour or any similar topic only for you Order Now e. how you read a piece of literature. This approach has interested me for this story and it will be the approach I will be using for it. When I read this story I found the use of the term persona used for it. This is when the teller of the story is referred into it or the narrator of the poem may or may not reflect the author point of view. This is the first look at Kate Chopin work that interested me by the introduction of her in the book. I thought that the persona was evident in this essay since she had dealt with a so many losses of love ones in her life. Ms. Chopin had four siblings that had passed away before the age of 25 years old, which was not uncommon in that era due to the environment and health care system. After only being married to her husband for 12 years and having six children he passed away, which put a great deal of hardship in her life. With adversity like that you can go one of two ways; you can become angry and bitter or take it make an asset and better yourself as a person. When looking at this story it can be interpreted as their biographical or historical view. The biographical view measures to see the extent of the ability to form the literary work into creative form. There have been various opinions if the biography of the writer should be counted toward the writers work, the literary work will be strengthen if the author works from biography view. I have not reviewed all of Ms Chopin work but in the case of The Story of the Hour, I get the feeling that it is in fact the case. After reading the story of Mrs. Mallard I found that it is not any different than Ms Chopin’s life story. Both have dealt with the loss of brothers and sisters before the age of 25, the loss of a husband and the raising of six children in an era that oppressed women and their rights in society. She was one that stood up for herself and in that time she would be considered in a male dominated society to be somewhat of a rebel. In the story when realizing that she had loss her husband there was a sense of freedom for her that she had never had before in her life. Then there is the question if she ever loved her husband? That can go their way; you can love someone and still have a sense of freedom. The historical view to me is not there other then the era in which the time happen. But the years that the Ms Chopin was alive is also time in which the railroad importance was at its highest. The death of any family member can be applied even today’s society. In conclusion I hope that I have hit the requirement of what I said I was going to achieve. The persona and literary are covered in the above paper. I did enjoy the story even that is was very sad one. Reference: Journey to Literature, R Wayne Clugston, Chapter 2, 2010. How to cite The Story of the Hour, Papers

Looks Can Be Deceiving Essays - Philosophical Logic,

Looks Can Be Deceiving Looks Can Be Deceiving Paradoxes are sometimes composed of contradictory ideas presented together, ultimately leading to an unworkable situation. Paradoxes, however, are not simply ambiguous questions. Paradoxes are the essence of the inherent complexity of systems (Internet 1). Each paradox must be analyzed and clearly understood before it can be explained. Since mathematics is, in a sense, a universal language, certain paradoxes and contradictions have arisen that have troubled mathematicians, dating from ancient times to the present. Some are false paradoxes; that is, they do not present actual contradictions, and are merely slick logic tricks. Others have shaken the very foundations of mathematics ? requiring brilliant, creative mathematical thinking to resolve. Others remain unresolved to this day, but are assumed to be solvable. One recurring theme concerning paradoxes is that each of them can be solved to some degree of satisfaction, but are never completely conclusive. In other words, new answers w ill likely replace older ones, in an attempt to solidify the answer and clarify the problem. A paradox can be defined as an unacceptable conclusion derived by apparently acceptable reasoning from apparently acceptable premises. This essay provides an introduction to a range of paradoxes and their possible solutions. In addition, a questionnaire was composed in order to demonstrate the extent of knowledge that the general population has pertaining to paradoxes. Paradoxes are useful things, despite their mind-boggling appearance. Generally, however, most paradoxes can be ?solved? by searching for specific properties that they may contain. Therefore, if you try to describe a situation and you end up with a paradox (contradictory outcome), it usually means that the theory is wrong, or the theory or the definitions break down along the way. Also, it is possible that the situation cannot possibly occur, or the question may simply be meaningless for some other reason. Any of these possibilities are relevant, and if you exhaust all the possible interpretations, one of them should prove to be incorrect (Internet 1). The following type of paradox is called Simpson's Paradox. This paradox involves an apparent contradiction, because when the data are presented one way, one particular conclusion is inferred. However, when the same data are presented in another form, the opposite conclusion results. Paradox 1: Acceptance Percentages for College A and College Chart 1 Section A Section B Accepted Rejected Total Percent Accepted Accepted Rejected Total Percent Passing Women 400 250 650 61% 50 300 350 14% Men 50 25 75 67% 125 300 425 29% Total 450 275 725 175 600 775 As is evident in Chart 1, when the data are presented in two separate tables, it looks as if men are accepted more often than women, because in each case (College A and College B), men are accepted at a higher ratio than women. However, when the same data are combined into one table (Chart 2), a contradicting result is implied. Acceptance Percentage Totals for the University Chart 2 Accepted Rejected Total Percent Accepted Women 450 550 1000 45% Men 175 325 500 35% Total 625 875 1500 This table shows women actually having a higher overall acceptance rate than men. This is an example of Simpson's Paradox because it involves misleading data. Obviously, the presentation of the data is very important, and can lead to incorrect assumptions if the data are not used properly (Internet 2). Paradox 2: An Arrow in Flight One can imagine an arrow in flight, toward a target. For the arrow to reach the target, the arrow must first travel half of the overall distance from the starting point to the target. Next, the arrow must travel half of the remaining distance. For example, if the starting distance was 10m, the arrow first travels 5m, then 2.5m. If one extends this concept further, one can imagine the resulting distances getting smaller and smaller. Will the arrow ever reach the target? (Internet 3) The answer is, of course, yes the arrow will reach the target. Our common sense tells us so. But, mathematically, this fact can be proven because the sum of an infinite series can be a finite number. The question contains a premise, which implies that the infinite series will result in an infinite number. Thus, 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + ... = 1 and the arrow hits the target (Internet 3). Paradox 3: Two
